Yoga Home Practice Makes Progress

Thanks to my Yogi Toes “uStrap”, I managed to get from crow to handstand.  I had tried this transition previously and found it hard…nay, impossible.  But some self practice paid off today.  I am wondering what other things I can use this little strap for.  I think the gentle support it offers helps the shoulder girdle stay stable. I think this transition will help me with my aforementioned home practice goal of pressing from forward bend to pike handstand.  Right now, when I press into the floor not much happens, just like the first time I tried the crow to handstand transition..

Cool Tool

Needless to say, I am really enjoying my home practice, self practice, and time to play!  Setting challenges and goals has been a roller coaster of expectation meeting reality.  And I am taking the ride…

I have a regular strap and I’ve used it for pincha- definitely helps there. But I’m not yet a middle-of-the-room-handstander :) . I’ve also slacked off with my practice as of late, but hope to resuscitate it this month. :)

I just got my ustrap in the mail, and I absolutely fell in love with it! Its so much better than using a traditional strap in pincha mayurasana and handstand. I don’t yet have an offwall practice of handstand, but was able get off the wall and hold the longest handstand I’ve ever free-balanced using this strap! I do have an offwall pincha mayurasana practice, but some days are better than others, and I definitely feel this strap helping me out on my “tipsy days.” Congratulations on your transition!!! It is absolutely beautiful! I remember seeing Kathryn Budig saying the exact same thing about the old orange ystrap and figuring out her bakasana to handstand transition was impossible without the strap. When I get my handstand down, maybe I’ll eventually get to this transition. ;-)

The strap really is an amazing addition to my practice. I take it with me pretty much everywhere. Glad to hear someone else agrees…it is so useful! I am sure you will be off the wall in no time. Thanks for checking out my post and video. Pilar
